Summer 2013 Sewer Credit Application
The sewer credit is for City customers with sewer & water service active on their utility bill.  The sewer credit is based on their average usage from Sept-May.  Example if someone’s average is 3,000 gallons and they use 6,000 gallons in June, they will be billed 6,000 on water and 3,000 on sewer.  The credit is given only for the months of June, July & August.

Our local harbinger of spring . . . the Norway Spring is on and open to the public! It's been tested as being one of the best tasting, clear, free-flowing waters in the state, and is located just west of Norway on Highway 2. Just bring your jugs to fill up.
ORV's in the city limits
To operate an ORV in the city limits of Norway without a guardian you must be:
18 years old or possess a valid driver's license and ORV Safety Certificate. Violaters will be cited with fines and fees in excess of $100.

Riding adjacent to the railroad tracks is trespassing on railroad property and subject to charges.

Copies of the ordinance & maps are available at the Norway Police Department during regular office hours.

Energy Optimization
An Energy Optimization (EO) surcharge appears on the electric portion of your utility bill. This surcharge evolved from the State of Michigan mandating that all electric and gas utilities in our state institute energy savings programs. The revenues collected from the surcharge are what fund these programs. It is proposed that using less energy will save money for both utility customers and utilities themselves through not having to build new power plants to provide electricity. Less potential costs to the utility, less potential rate increases to customers.

We have specialized programs available for both our Residential and Commerical/Industrial (C&I) customers.

Energy Rebate Programs 
The City of Norway’s electric customers have multiple new ways to save energy and help lower their electric bills thanks to new energy efficiency rebate programs introduced by the utility. “Saving energy is one of the most important things we can do to help keep customer bills down, reduce emissions, and control long-term costs,” said Ray Anderson, City Manager. “The Norway Department of Power & Light’s new energy efficiency rebate programs are one way in which we’re working to meet that goal.”

Residential and Commercial electric customers in Norway are eligible for rebates on qualifying energy saving equipment and services.

Every business can make improvements that will reduce energy waste and add to the bottom line. We can help. Together with our regional power supplier, WPPI Energy, we are your source for ideas, information, technical assistance and financial incentives to make these improvements.

Explore your educational opportunities
Many energy education and training opportunities are available to commercial and industrial utility customers. If you know of any upcoming events, conferences, or technical workshops in your area that would help your staff become more energy efficient, we may be able to provide a scholarship to help cover the cost to attend. Availability is dependent on limited funding.

We can also help you with prescriptive and custom incentives tailored to your specific project and provide study grants to further examine potential energy projects, including compressed air surveys, pump analyses, process evaluations and other specialized technology reviews.

Shed those kWhs
It may sound hard, but it actually takes little effort to change energy wasting habits. These simple actions are guaranteed to trim those excess kilowatt-hours:

  • Turn off equipment that is not needed during non-business hours. This includes computers, monitors, printers, copiers and task lighting.

  • Install lighting occupancy sensors that automatically turn lights on or off, depending on occupancy. They work well in areas that are not occupied continuously, such as conference rooms, break rooms or offices.

  • Adjust thermostats during “down” hours, such as a weekend. Better yet, install a programmable thermostat that will adjust the thermostat automatically.

  • When buying or replacing office equipment, choose ENERGY STAR® qualified models. Even if it costs more initially, you'll save over the life of the equipment.
