Owner Cullen Laughlin-Yurs opened the store on 804 Main Street after taking up the family business from his father, Kelley Laughlin. Cullen and Kelley share a lifelong passion for rock and mineral collecting, identification, lapidary work, and silver jewelry fabrication. The father-son duo leaves visitors uniformly impressed with their friendliness and knowledge - between the two, they can speak with approachable expertise about every item in the store, and their enthusiasm is contagious.

The main street store is laid out for both seasoned and novice explorers, starting with a jewlery section of affordable handmade necklaces and a vast stock of rings and earrings.

Eye-popping specimens from China and South America and selections representing both sides of the Mississippi give visitors a geological world tour. Special attention is also given to Michigan’s mining history, with pyrite, calcite hematite, and beautiful copper pieces on display.

Cutting rough materials are also available for anyone who does their own lapidary work, along with cases of gemstones, surprise boxes, and miniature stones, perfect for budding geologists. A separate room tucked away from the main area is devoted to fluorescent minerals that come to life under special lighting in the dark.

As another specialty store dotting Norway’s Downtown district, Kelley’s Rock Shop is an incredible resource for anyone interested in rock collecting, making their own jewelry, or the area’s geological and mining history. The owner's evident love for a field that combines science, natural beauty, and the joy of discovery is enough to leave anyone visiting the store a new rock hound.

With thousands of specimens in stock, the physical store can only display a portion of what’s available. Customers are encouraged to visit Kelley’s Rock Shop’s online store at www.kelleyskaleidoscope.com.
