With 85 years of business in Downtown Norway, Peterson Electric is a family-owned store offering home appliances, repair, and installation services.

Oscar Peterson opened Peterson Electric in October 1939 and operated the business until his son Jim took it over in the 1970s. Jim Peterson runs the store with his wife, Debbie, just across the street from the original storefront.

Peterson Electric sells appliances from brands such as Maytag, Frigidaire, and GE, and offers delivery, installation, assembly, and repair services. The main street storefront has a full range of products on display, including washers/dryers, refrigerators, stoves, and select smart TVs.

When talking about the longevity of their family business, Jim Peterson says they've benefited from a good location in Norway, "our customers live 30 to 35 miles in every direction, so we draw business from all over Dickinson County and Northern Wisconsin."

Peterson also attributes their long-term success to the tight-knit community, "people make the trip here to buy from someone knowledgeable that they know directly."
